WASHINGTON, April 14 (Reuters) - Jack Douglas Teixeira was arrested on Thursday for allegedly leaking a trove of highly classified documents online. Teixeira served with the Air National Guard in Massachusetts, as did his stepfather. His unit, the 102nd intelligence wing of the Massachusetts National Guard, is responsible for providing intelligence support to many units of the military. Teixeira joined the Air National Guard in 2019, part of the National Guard that reports to the governor of their respective state or territory. The National Guard is made up of reserve troops that often hold civilian jobs or attend schools, and often respond to domestic emergencies.

CNN —The suspect in the leak of classified Pentagon documents posted on social media has been charged under the Espionage Act with unauthorized retention and transmission of national defense information and unauthorized removal of classified information and defense materials. According to charging documents, Teixeira held a top secret security clearance and allegedly began posting information about the documents online around December 2022, and photos of documents in January. Investigators narrowed in on the potential members of the chat group with evidence collected following the discovery of the classified documents online. Four Discord users active in a different Discord chatroom where the documents later appeared told CNN the documents began circulating on Thug Shaker. Several former high school classmates of Teixeira’s told CNN Thursday that he had a fascination with the military, guns and war.

A study from Greenpeace analysed a database of Europe's private jet flights over the last three years. It found that 55% of them were under 466 miles long, and launched a campaign to ban private jets. Over 1,300 flights on one UK route could have taken a 35-minute train for less than $20 instead. According to the Transport and Environment campaign group, private jets are 50-times more polluting than trains. The data also shows that over 1,300 private flights went between London and Farnborough, England – a 30 mile train journey which you could travel in 35-minutes for less than $20.

Chief Executive Roland Busch said the company had made its strongest ever start to a financial year, helped by its working through an order backlog which stood at a record 102 billion euros. Smart Infrastructure - which makes products to automate and control buildings - also raised its sales and profit margin guidance. During the October to December period, Siemens said its revenue had increased 8% to 18.1 billion euros, matching estimates. Shareholders' net profit fell to 1.48 billion euros, in line with forecasts. Fellow industrial automation company Rockwell Automation last month reported a 9.9% increase in first quarter organic sales, and raised its sales growth outlook.

In organic terms, Telekom expected full-year adjusted EBITDA AL to come in at more than 37.0 billion euros, up from previous guidance of around 37.0 billion. T-Mobile US now expects to unlock synergies from its merger with Sprint of $5.7-5.8 billion this year, up from previous guidance of $5.4-5.6 billion, Telekom said.

Hikes in the atmospheric concentration of all three greenhouse gases - carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide - outstripped the average increase over the past decade, it showed, meaning they are now all at new record levels. Concentrations of the main greenhouse gas carbon dioxide rose by 2.5 parts per million to 415.7 - a level not seen since at least 3 million years ago when the Earth was much warmer. The jump in the potent, heat-trapping gas methane was the highest since records began in 1983, the report said. Greenhouse gases are responsible for warming the planet and triggering extreme weather events like heatwaves and intense rainfall. The WMO said scientists are investigating the reason for the exceptional hike in methane levels of 18 parts per billion to 1,908 last year following a similar increase in 2020.

Atribuirea responsabilităţii organizării congresului internaţional anual al SIAR de inginerie a autovehiculelor şi transporturilor Filialei SIAR din cadrul Universităţii Tehnice a Moldovei din Chișinău a fost hotărâtă de Adunarea Generală a SIAR ce a avut loc la Universitatea din Craiova în data de 23 octombrie 2019. În cadrul aceloraşi lucrări, Adunarea Generală a hotărât ca organizarea ediţiei din anul 2021 a Congresului SIAR să fie atribuită filialei SIAR din cadrul Universităţii Politehnica din Timișoara. Ulterior, urmare a situației sanitare generate de epidemia COVID-19, Consiliul Director al SIAR a decis amânarea cu câte un an a celor două congrese, decizie confirmată de Adunarea Generală SIAR din 17 decembrie 2020.
